Question: Are there still Emos?

Despite all of the negative attitudes surrounding the emo culture and style, it still thrives today. The term “emo” has different meanings for different people, but most things stay the same. Emos have experienced acceptance and a lot of hate.

Why was emo a thing?

The emo subculture is stereotypically associated with the socially oppressed, sensitivity, misanthropy, introversion and angst, as well as depression, self-harm and suicide. Its quick rise in popularity in the early 2000s inspired a backlash, with bands such as My Chemical Romance and Panic!
