Question: How do you respond to double bind communication?

The best response to a double-bind question is to treat it as an open question and respond to the assumption rather than the closed question.

What is a double blind question?

A method of studying a drug or procedure in which both the subjects and investigators are kept unaware of who is actually getting which specific treatment. Questions (11)

Why would a double-blind procedure not work?

Double-blind experiments are simply not possible in some scenarios. For example, in an experiment looking at which type of psychotherapy is the most effective, it would be impossible to keep participants in the dark about whether or not they actually received therapy.

Why is a double blind study bad?

There are two flaws in double-blind placebo studies. Double-blind placebo studies have been called the gold standard for testing medications, especially psychiatric ones. The problem with these experiments is that they mix up the placebo effect (taking a pill) with the treatment effect (the medication in the pill).
